ABOUT EXUMA
Exuma is known for the laid-back surrounding and famous for the clearest and most beautiful turquoise waters found anywhere in the world. They are so outstanding that the astronauts in outer space were able to look down and identify the jewel like chain of islands. See for yourself at Google Earth!
The Bahamas enjoy sunshine an average of over 300 days per year. The winters are mild with daytime temperatures averaging mid 70sF (mid 20s C) and nighttime upper 60sF (18 C). In Summer daytime can be in the higher 80sF (30 C) with 70sF (25C) at night.
BEACHES
The emerald and turquoise waters of the Bahamas archipelago naturally form breath-taking beaches. Check out Hooper’s Bay, Coco Plum Beach, Tropic of Cancer Beach, Three Sisters Beach, Forbs Hill, Exuma Point, Jolly Hall, etc.
BOATING & SAILING
There are numerous cays and coves which provide smooth sailing along various hues of blue and green water. You are sure to be delighted by coral reefs as well as the opportunity to swim on your own beach with no one else for company unless you want it.

An evening at any one of Exuma’s fine or local restaurants leaves you wishing you had an eternal appetite. The fresh seafood (fried conch, mahi-mahi, tuna, grouper, lobster and more) as well as tropical fruit, peas and rice and Bahamian Mac and Cheese with bit of spice are not to be missed. Pork and chicken dishes are also done to perfection often slow cooked with island spicing. Part of the fun of the Exumian restaurant is enjoying the view and having another rum punch. DIVING & SNORKELING
Dive and snorkel over the shallow waters and coral reefs. It’s nice to keep some snorkel gear with you because you never know when you will just want to take a look at what is down there as you explore the beaches of Exuma. Student Reef and the reef next to Big D's Conch Spot are great snorkel spots where you have easy access from the beach.
EXUMA CAYS TOURS
Spend a wonderful day journeying through the islands, known as the Cays, and see swimming pigs, swim with the nurse sharks and snorkel Thunderball Grotto. Definitely a must on your list. There are several spots all to the northwest from Great Exuma. Boat tours leave from the little fishing village of Baraterre and do many stops including the piggies. Full day and half day as well as group and private at a variety of prices. A booking in advance is recommended. Doing one of these tours is highly recommended it is a lot of fun and you will get many great photos. In fact, these tours cover a number of the best things to do on Exuma.

FISHING
Exuma is ideal for fishermen of varying tastes, whether you enjoy fishing in the shallows or trying your hand at deep sea fishing. Whatever your liking, something is sure to grab your hook, line, and sinker. Deep sea fishing for Wahoo, Kingfish and Mahi-mahi, reef fishing for Snapper and Grouper, free diving for Lobster, or trying your hand at legendary Bone fishing. There are many options and choices.

Explore the famous turquoise waters, glide through the mangroves, see rays, turtles and barracudas. Exuma water is clear, and it is often very calm - perfect for sea kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding. There are several local businesses who rent them.

SHOPPING
Exuma offers an array of shops, boutiques, and markets to suit anyone’s appetite for shopping. There are souvenirs that offer up a taste of this island paradise along with fine clothing and Bahamian goods, such as straw work and art in many forms that tell a never-ending story of your Exuma vacation. George Town is quite small, but it is jolly to poke around. Most stores open Monday till Saturday 9am till 5pm. Grocery stores open on Sunday 8am till 11am.

STOCKING ISLAND
No trip to Exuma is complete without at least one trip to Stocking Island. Visit for half day or full day and enjoy swimming, snorkeling, shelling, hiking and volleyball on the long stretch of sandy white beach. You will find nice walking paths all over Stoking Island and you will enjoy stunning views from every angle. If you make your way over to the ocean side it is an incredible beach walk and there are also paths up to the beacon. This is where you can see the world's oldest living fossils (Stromatolites), there is a Blue Hole and a beach that is great for Starfish.
Chat N Chill is known for his Sunday Pig Roasts. Get a fresh served Conch Salat from the Conch Bar and enjoy the stingray. They are attracted by the scraps of the conch they sometimes get from the Conch Bar. The water taxi leaves from the Government Dock and the Yacht Club.
Peace and Plenty Beach Club serves island snacks and tropical drinks within an earshot of a toe-tapping playlist and offers free rentals of kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling gear. Chat on the group raft and take a photo on the over water swings…it’s gonna be a good day. Purchase a $30 day pass for all-day access to the Beach Club, including round-trip transportation from the Peace and Plenty dock.
Coconut Club is located on a secluded beach and is outfitted with shaded lounge chairs and lively music. The perfect spot for a lazy sunbath or a game of corn hole. Don't worry about bringing food and drinks, you will be covered. It is just a short walk to the Salt Beacon and the Atlantic.
